Mission & Goals

As a European association specifically focused on sustainable tourism since 2007, NECSTouR provides an integrated approach to tourism governance and an important link between regional and wider European levels of government. It provides a link between its regional and associate members and the EU insituttions and monitors, contributes to and influences European tourism policy developments. As President of the UN Tourism's Affiliate Members Board, NECSTouR enables regions and destinations to support and implement the relevant tourism priorities linked to the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, as adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.

EU Tourism Agenda and the new European Tourism Strategy due out in May 2026. Communication Activities

NECSTouR's Tourism Advocacy Group meet on 20 February 2025 and 2 April 2025 at the European Parliament with Committee of the Regions members to discuss NECSTouR's Pathjway 2023 Strategy, the planned new European Tourism Strategy and the Committee of the Regions Opinion "Towards sustainable and resilient tourism in the European Union: Strategy for balanced and adaptive management" led by the Balearic Islands.
