Mission & Goals

Naughtons Car Dismantlers Ltd is a vehicle recycling and second-hand car parts business focused on efficiency, sustainability, and innovation. We dismantle, depollute, and resell high-quality used car parts, reducing waste and promoting a circular economy. Our key objectives include: Operational Efficiency: Implement Lean systems, automate part retrieval, and optimize stock management. Sustainability: Reduce waste, enhance sustainability reporting, and develop a warehouse for efficient storage. Growth & Investment: Expand globally, secure funding, and explore new revenue streams like repairable car sales. Customer Service: Improve logistics and introduce an automated locker system for convenient part collection. Industry Advocacy: Engage policymakers, push for fair regulations, and counter restrictive manufacturer lobbying. Our vision is to build a highly efficient, automated, and scalable second-hand car parts business with global reach and long-term success.

EU Legislative Interests

1. Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) – Revision of the Waste Framework Directive (Directive 2008/98/EC) Why? The current framework places excessive financial and administrative burdens on small businesses in the circular economy. Proposal: Advocate for SME-friendly EPR exemptions or reduced fees for businesses promoting the reuse of second-hand car parts, aligning with the EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan. 2. Proposal for a Regulation on Reducing Administrative Burdens for Businesses (COM/2023/621 final) Why? SMEs face unnecessary red tape and compliance costs, slowing down business growth. Proposal: Support measures that simplify VAT reporting, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and create an easier regulatory environment for SMEs. 3. Revision of the Combined Transport Directive (92/106/EEC) – Reducing Logistics Costs for SMEs Why? High shipping costs for heavy goods (e.g., engines, gearboxes, axles) make it difficult for Irish businesses to sell parts in the EU. Proposal: Push for logistical support and reduced freight costs for SMEs, including EU-level incentives for cross-border shipping of recycled goods. 4. European Skills Agenda – Addressing Skilled Labor Shortages in Vehicle Dismantling and Recycling Why? Severe shortages of skilled labor in Ireland make it hard to grow businesses in technical industries. Proposal: Advocate for simpler work visa processes for SMEs, EU-wide vocational training programs in automotive dismantling, and funding for hiring apprentices and upskilling workers. 5. Artificial Intelligence Act (COM/2021/206 final) – Supporting AI Adoption for SMEs Why? AI can help SMEs improve efficiency, but implementation is costly and complex. Proposal: Push for grants and subsidies for SMEs to integrate AI into their businesses, including automation tools for inventory management, pricing, and logistics. Support a dedicated EU initiative for AI in small business operations.
