Mission & Goals
The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF) is a political-military alliance of former Northern Alliance members and open to all other anti-Taliban members of society, loyal to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The NRF was mobilized following the fall of Kabul to preserve democracy and the rights and freedoms of all citizens regardless of race and gender. The NRF constitutes the only organized resistance alliance to the Taliban in the country and has called for a truly inclusive and democratic government of Afghanistan. The ultimate goal of the NRF is long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan through an inclusive political process committed to supporting the development of a prosperous Afghanistan where full, equal and meaningful participation of all Afghans is possible.

An EU initiative on Afghanistan to grant support to the country and the population; Influencing policymakers to make sure EU's assistance to the Afghan population adheres to a principled approach, ensuring that aid reaches women effectively and that they play a significant role in the aid delivery process; Influencing the full and correct implementation of European Council conclusions on the situation in Afghanistan and its commitment to peace and stability in the country; Afghanistan Essential Services and Livelihoods Stabilisation Programme; EU Afghanistan Peace Support Mechanism (EU APSM); The implementation of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, core principles of the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy; Influencing the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations interventions in the fields of emergency food assistance, security and healthcare; Legislation on the EU Global Facility on Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism; Arms and Ammunition Management Validation System.
Communication Activities
Regulatory explainers: NRF will track and post explainers of EU policies regarding Afghanistan and, more widely, the Central Asia region. Conceptual analysis: NRF will post explainers of policy concepts, including advocating for policymakers to consider emerging issues. Events: NRF plans to attend and track panels and conferences taking place across the EU, concerning Central Asia, Afghanistan and related EU foreign policy topics, also partnering with local organisers. Lobbying: NRF will advise policymakers from the European Commission, European Parliament, and EU Council on Afghanistan-related policy, including for the EU Council decisions, the EU Afghanistan Peace Support Mechanism and Parliament's own-initiative reports on Afghanistan through the Delegation for the relations with Afghanistan (D-AF), urging the EU to recognise the importance and risks of the current situation and future scenarios in Afghanistan and its region.
