Mission & Goals

The NFU of England and Wales champions British farming and growing and provides professional representation and services to its members. Its main aims and objectives are to: 1. Provide political representation to farmers and growers in England and Wales through effective lobbying at regional, national and European levels. 2. Inform its members about important political, commercial or legislative changes that may impact on their businesses in order to allow them to make informed decisions. 3. Provide special advisory services to its members on legal and technical matters affecting British agriculture. 4. Offer wider services to its members for example, discounted rates of insurance, private medical care etc 5. To be a public voice for agriculture and horticulture ensuring that the British public is informed about the importance and value of British agriculture.

Main EU legislative proposals or policies targeted: Agricultural policy, including the CAP EU budget State aid Food Supply Chain (including unfair trading practices) Research & Innovation Rural transport Rural Development & structural funds Market sectors (arable, sugar, livestock, poultry, horticulture. apiculture) Employment, including seasonal labour Health & Safety Sustainable Production & Consumption Organics Animal Health Environment and climate change Renewable Energy Quality & promotion Sustainable use of pesticides Fertilisers, including anti-dumping measures Farm to Fork Biodiversity Strategy Water Trade in agricultural products, including future EU/UK trade relationship Communication activities (events, campaigns, publications, etc.) related to the EU policies above:

Member Of

The NFU is a member of COPA/COGECA, the umbrella organisation representing EU professional farming organisations and co-operatives. Through this organisation it has an extensive network with other professional farming organisations in the European Union It is also a member of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), a representative body for British business associations. The British Agriculture Bureau is additionally a member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium (BCCB). The BCCB organises events on behalf of its members of both a political and commercial nature. Also BAB is a member of CEJA the European Council of Young Farmers.
