Mission & Goals
National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov” (NATFA) is Bulgaria’s leading higher education institution dedicated to theatre, film, audiovisual arts, and creative industries. Established in 1948, NATFA provides Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral education in stage and screen arts, artistic research, cultural management, and creative entrepreneurship. The Academy’s mission is to advance artistic excellence, innovation, and international collaboration through practice-based education, research, and professional training. NATFA supports the development of artists, researchers, educators, and cultural professionals while contributing to the preservation and contemporary evolution of Bulgarian and European cultural heritage. The Academy actively participates in European and international academic networks, research initiatives, and cultural cooperation projects, promoting interdisciplinary exchange, mobility, and innovation in arts education and the audiovisual sector.
