Mission & Goals

Natel Energy is a California-based engineering and technology company that designs sustainable hydropower solutions and provides services to support sustainable development and operation of hydropower projects. The company's FishSafe™ runners are designed using state-of-the-art computational fluid dynamics to deliver high hydraulic efficiency, reliability, safe through-turbine fish passage, abrasion resistance, and simple civil works integration. Natel’s patented high performance, FishSafe™ turbine designs have been validated through laboratory and field studies with results published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as through over four years of operation across three hydro plants in the U.S. and Europe. Natel works with industry-leading manufacturers to retrofit and repower existing hydropower plants and to develop new hydro resources using Natel’s FishSafe™ turbine designs.
