Mission & Goals

With more than 6,800 employees and annual sales of around Euro 6.1 billion in the 2025 financial year, MVV is one of Germany’s leading energy companies. Our activities focus on providing a reliable, environmentally-friendly and economical supply of energy to our industrial, commercial and private household customers. We cover all stages of the energy value chain: from energy generation, energy trading and energy distribution to operating distribution grids through to our sales activities and environmental energy and energy-related service businesses. We are investing in our future grid capability, modernising our generation plants and innovative green technologies. We are pioneers of the energy transition. With our Mannheim Model, we have committed to a strategic course with which we aim to become #climatepositive – as one of the first energy companies in Germany. We are promoting the heat transition, the electricity transition and the associated expansion in renewable generation.

EU Legislative Interests

The most important strategies and legislative proposals for us include: - All subjects covered by the Energy Union, the Fit for 55" program and the RePowerEU program - The content of the Action Plan for Affordable Energy, for instance the announced European Grids and Citizens’ Energy Packages - The directive concerning urban wastewater treatment

Communication Activities

In 2023/2024, MVV did not organize events nor did we publish any special publication for lobbying activities (beside position papers). In 2025 we have published a study on negative emissions and the implementation of the technology and infrastructure in Germany. The study has also been sent to Commission staff members.
