Mission & Goals
MSCI’s research-based data, analytics and indexes, help our clients understand risks and opportunities, make investment decisions and unlock innovation. MSCI products and services include indexes; portfolio construction and risk management analytical models and tools; sustainability and climate solutions; and private asset data and analytics. In the European Union, MSCI Deutschland GmbH (a subsidiary of MSCI Inc.) is authorized by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) as a benchmark administrator for applicable MSCI indexes. In November 2024, the European Union adopted Regulation (EU) 2024/3005 on the transparency and integrity of ESG rating activities, which will require ESG rating providers operating in the European Union to be authorized by, or registered with, ESMA beginning July 2, 2026. Certain of our Sustainability and Climate products are expected to be in scope of this regulation. This registration covers all of MSCI’s divisions.
EU Legislative Interests
Legislation related to financial services in general, with a specific focus on: EU Benchmark regulation; EU ESG rating providers regulation; EU Sustainable finance action plan; Digital Services Act package, SIU.
Communication Activities
Communicate with the relevant EU institutions to discuss the EU legislative programme and respond to public consultations/surveys.
