Mission & Goals
Metropolia Ammattikorkeakoulu Oy (METROPOLIA) is the largest University of Applied Sciences in Finland located in the Helsinki capital region. Metropolia has 19.300 students and 1170 staff. Metropolia has four fields of education: Business, Culture, Health and Social Care and Technology with altogether 81 degree programs of which 23 are in English. The university is owned by municipalities of Helsinki Metropolitan area and city of Kirkkonummi. Metropolia is known for its interdisciplinary and phenomenon-based innovation hubs built around societal challenges. Metropolia's strategic intent is to be a bold reformer of expertise and a builder of a sustainable future. We can achieve this long-term goal by joining forces with our students, staff, partners, and various actors in society. Metropolia University of Applied Sciences is a limited liability company owned by the municipalities of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area with the following holdings: Helsinki 42%, Espoo 27%, Vantaa 26%, Kirkkonummi 4% and Kauniainen 1%. The organization is directed by the Board of Directors, composed of representatives from the owner municipalities as well as a student and a staff representative.
