Mission & Goals

Methane Abatement in Maritime Innovation Initiative (MAMII). Led by Safetytech Accelerator Ltd., a non-profit distributing entity within Lloyds Register Group and owned by the Lloyds Register Foundation (charity). MAMII is a coalition of 22+ stakeholders across the Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) fuel supply chain — including fuel users, gas carriers, and oil majors. Founded in 2022, MAMII is a cross-sector platform uniting maritime industry leaders, technology developers, and innovators to address the critical challenge of reducing methane (the main component of LNG) emissions from LNG-fuelled maritime operations and providing the technology necessary for bio-methane and e-methane. MAMII’s mission is to accelerate the development and deployment of technologies that can monitor, measure, and mitigate methane emissions in the maritime sector. Through collaboration and innovation, MAMII seeks to build a methane-safe ecosystem that supports the decarbonisation of global shipping.
