Mission & Goals
Meridaunia is a Local Action Group (LAG), established as a mixed public-private consortium, which acts as an intermediary between European institutions and local organisations, facilitating economic and social development through funding and strategic initiatives. Meridaunia promotes the sustainable development of the Monti Dauni, a rural area in the heart of Puglia, through the valorisation of local resources, support for businesses and the strengthening of social capital. The main objective is to make the Monti Dauni a model of innovative and inclusive rural development, promoting territorial cohesion and the competitiveness of local businesses. Organisational structure: - Meridaunia is made up of a network of over 79 members, including: - 30 municipalities in the Monti Dauni area, - Trade associations, companies and cooperatives, - Training organisations and research institutes, - Representatives of civil society.

Multiannual Financial Framework 2028–2034 — Proposal COM(2025) 571 and Communication COM(2025) 570. Horizontal regulation on tracking/performance and Single Gateway — Proposal COM(2025) 545. Post-2027 CAP — incl. future National & Regional Partnership Plans. Long-Term Vision for EU Rural Areas (2040) and Rural Pact. Post-2027 Cohesion Policy — ERDF, ESF+, Interreg (integration of the rural dimension). LEADER/CLLD — recognition and strengthening (earmarking, continuity of territorial animation, administrative simplification incl. SCOs and lump sums). Related chapters: smart villages, short supply chains & quality schemes, EIP-AGRI, youth/women inclusion, essential services in remote areas, green/digital transition (DNSH), anti-depopulation.
Communication Activities
- Policy briefs, factsheets and guidance (e.g. use of SCOs/lump sums in local projects; notes on smart villages, EIP-AGRI, short supply chains, inclusion of young people/women, essential services, green/digital transition). - Workshops, webinars, technical meetings and working groups with administrations, LAGs, rural businesses, the third sector and the research community. - Sharing of good practices and case studies (Rural Pact; EU CAP Network – LEADER/CLLD subgroup). - Information campaigns on EU calls/consultations (guides, Q&As, short videos). - Online dissemination: website, newsletter, social media; post-event reports with results and follow-up.

Organisation Members
Our organisation is a Local Action Group (LAG) with a multi-stakeholder membership composed of around 75 members, including: 30 local authorities (municipalities in the Monti Dauni area), 25 enterprises and cooperatives active in agri-food and rural services, 20 civil-society organisations and associations representing cultural, social and environmental interests.
Additional Information
Meridaunia has not received EU operating grants. The organisation participates in EU-funded projects (e.g. Erasmus+, structural funds), but these do not contribute to the organisation’s operating costs as defined in the guidelines
