Mission & Goals
Mercy Corps is a global team of humanitarians, working together on the front lines of today’s biggest crises to create a future of possibility, where everyone can prosper. Mercy Corps Netherlands (MCNL) was established in 2017 as an association with full legal capacity (Vereniging met volledige rechtsbevoegdheid) under Dutch law. MCNL has offices in The Hague and Brussels, and is part of the world-wide organisation Mercy Corps which consists of Mercy Corps Global (MCG), a US entity registered in Washington State and its field operations, including branches and local organisations (located in approximately 40 countries) and Mercy Corps Europe (MCE), a UK entity with offices in Edinburgh and London. Our mission: to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities.
EU Legislative Interests
Mercy Corps Netherlands works to influence key EU decision-makers and institutions to address the impacts of conflict and climate change, working to influence EU policies that affect the following: Food Security: People are well-nourished at all times, with access to sustainably produced, safe, and nutritious food. Water Security: People have equitable and sustained access to clean and safe water to meet their everyday needs. Economic Opportunities: People grow and sustain their assets and income. Peace and Good Governance: People reduce or prevent violence, contribute to advancing sustainable peace, and participate meaningfully in inclusive and responsive governance systems. This has included the following proposals: EU's Multi-annual Financial Framework (MFF) 2021-2024; Mid-term evaluation of the Global Europe Instrument; Solidarity and Emergency Aid Reserve (SEAR); Ukraine Facility. We also join in collective advocacy efforts with peer non-governmental organisations, and civil society organisations.

Discrepancy between budget and income: The actual FY23 income of €20.282.832 reviewed by the auditors is the actual amount of income that we raised for MCNL in FY23, instead of €25.278.897 as originally planned in the budget.
