Mission & Goals
Since 2020, the transnational Project MeetEU has connected citizens with EU decision-makers such as MEPs, civil servants from the European Commission and Parliament, and Activists and Journalists. By doing so, MeetEU creates a platform for transnational exchanges and multilingual communication and promotes the process of European Integration. Herby it directly cooperates with different departments of different institutions by taking part in the consultation and co-creation processes (p.e, stakeholder program of the European Year of Youth, DG EAC, European Commission) For its commitment, MeetEU won the second prize of the Jean Monnet Prize for European Integration in 2021.
EU Legislative Interests
In order to improve existing participative opportunities and create new ones, MeetEU engages directly with members of the European Parliament which are part of the committee on constitutional affairs (AFCO). In the same time, MeetEU will continue its efforts in creating inclusive communication campaigns, involving citizens which do not yet feel addressed by existing programs. Therefore, MeetEU applies for grants managed by DG COMM (European Parliament) and will continue its efforts in promoting campaigns / projects such as the Conference on the Future of Europe. Other areas of communication / policy can depend on the project. Since 2020, we organized exchanges with civil servants of the commission from the following DGs: ENERGY, HOME, COMM, EAC and CONNECT. During a project in 2021, MeetEU Members were advocating for a modification of the Rules of Procedure of the European Parliament to reform the creation process of European Political Groups in the European Parliament: https://meeteu.eu/enhancing-the-european-focus-of-european-elections/ https://meeteu.eu/2021/09/09/update-polis180-event-enhancing-the-european-focus-of-european-elections/
Communication Activities
So far, MeetEU realized more than 160 events with MEPs and civil servants (EP & EC). Those events are open to the public and are very popular among students, topic related experts such as researchers and journalists. Besides weekly events, MeetEU organized several projects as part of existing European Campaigns. In the beginning of 2022, a campaign targeting European students and teachers was realized in order to inform them about the Conference on the Future of Europe. This campaign was supported by the European commission and parliament. In the year 2022, MeetEU was one of the stakeholder organizations of the European Year of the Youth.
