Initially launched in 2020 as an annual conference to promote Malta as a MedTech hub, MedTech World has swiftly grown into one of the industry’s fastest-expanding ecosystems. The conference was designed to unite startups, investors, service providers, and innovators, and it continues to foster collaboration across the entire spectrum of MedTech and HealthTech. By creating a dynamic platform for these groups, MedTech World has become a key player in connecting and empowering those driving change in healthcare technology. Today, MedTech World operates across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia, positioning itself at the crossroads of media, events, and capital. Through these global operations, the platform fosters international collaboration, enabling innovators to showcase cutting-edge solutions and advance the future of healthcare technology. EU Legislative Interests

MedTech World actively aligns its initiatives with key European Union policies aimed at accelerating innovation, ensuring patient safety, and supporting the sustainable growth of the healthcare and medical technology sector. These include: Medical Device Regulation (MDR 2017/745) & In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR 2017/746): MedTech World fosters dialogue between regulators, industry, and innovators to help navigate the complex MDR/IVDR landscape, especially for startups and SMEs facing challenges with market access and conformity assessments. EU Pharmaceutical Strategy & European Health Union Initiatives: We support a more resilient, innovative, and patient-centered healthcare ecosystem by connecting stakeholders across borders to collaborate on digital health solutions, supply chain resilience, and faster access to therapies. European Health Data Space (EHDS): MedTech World champions the secure and ethical use of health data for innovation, AI, and research. We provide platforms for debate, startup showcases, and cross-sector collaboration focused on data interoperability, secondary use, and cross-border exchange. EU AI Act & Digital Services Act: As AI becomes increasingly embedded in diagnostics, robotics, and clinical decision support tools, we spotlight its regulatory implications to ensure responsible and trustworthy adoption within medtech applications. Green Deal & Sustainable Healthcare: We promote discussions and showcase technologies aligned with the EU’s sustainability goals, including circular medical device design, energy-efficient manufacturing, and responsible waste management in healthcare. Through our global events, policy discussions, and strategic partnerships, MedTech World contributes to shaping the future of EU healthcare innovation by aligning industry needs with evolving legislative frameworks.

Communication Activities

MedTech World serves as a leading platform for education, engagement, and advocacy across several key EU policy areas through the following activities: Annual Flagship Conference in Malta: A central convening point for European regulators, policymakers, startups, corporates, and healthcare institutions to discuss the impact of EU regulations (MDR, IVDR, EHDS, AI Act) on medical technology and digital health innovation. Policy-Focused Panels and Workshops: Curated discussions on navigating the MDR/IVDR pathway, implementing AI in compliance with EU law, and unlocking value from the European Health Data Space—bringing together Notified Bodies, national competent authorities, legal experts, and innovators. Thought Leadership & Publications: Ongoing publication of interviews, articles, and policy briefings featuring EU regulatory experts, startup founders, and investors, shared through MedTech World's digital media channels and newsletter (reaching 50,000+ global stakeholders). Startup Acceleration & Visibility Campaigns: Special focus on supporting EU-based startups in overcoming regulatory hurdles through mentorship programs, pitch competitions, and exposure to venture capital aligned with EU health and innovation objectives. Regional Roadshows & Thematic Summits: Held across Europe and beyond to deepen engagement with national ecosystems, including events aligned with the EU’s green and digital transition goals in healthcare. Collaborations with EU Institutions & Clusters: Active outreach and programming involving EU-funded networks, local life science clusters, and EIC/EIT Health-linked initiatives to reinforce the policy-to-practice bridge. These communication efforts ensure that MedTech World not only reflects but actively shapes Europe’s evolving healthcare and medtech innovation agenda.
