Mission & Goals

We are a think tank whose mission is to produce analyses and proposals for decision-makers in the northern and southern Mediterranean regions, as well as for citizens. To this end, MDI acts as a platform for discussion and debate, drawing on independent experts and a network of leading partners and researchers. Our objectives: - Analyzing current events and Euro-Mediterranean relations, and to reflect on how to revitalise and set new objectives in a post-Covid-19 context. - Providing a "Southern perspective" on the main international debates and strategic challenges facing emerging and developing countries. - Promoting understanding between North and South Africa in order to establish a common language. - Raising awareness of Mediterranean and African issues among European partners. - Offering innovative proposals to decision-makers on both sides of the Mediterranean.

EU Legislative Interests

Trade policy: Full and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (FTAA) Migration and asylum policy.

Communication Activities

Migration and Asylum Policy: We organize our activities thematically, and one of the subjects we focus on is asylum and migration. From Tunis, we collaborate closely with KLL Advisory (Faten Kallel), which regularly hosts roundtable discussions with well-known stakeholders in the field of Euro-Mediterranean professional mobility and migration. We frequently select Tunisian guests with expertise in specific themes for discussion sessions at the European Parliament. Occasionally, we invite political youth groups from the Belgian ecosystem. Our goal is to formalize a migration and professional pact between Tunisia and Europe, as well as to discuss the various issues inherent in these themes. We also organize meetings on other topics accompanied by Tunisian and European experts, such as the business environment in Tunisia. Finally, we are gradually turning our attention to the ecosystem of Tunisian impact-driven startups (technology, environmental sustainability, IT, social, etc.) and that of Belgian startups, with the aim of organizing meetings between these two spheres at the European level to present opportunities in both regions and the support available at the European level for developing impact projects, i.e., in the themes on which the EU focuses.
