Mission & Goals
Media Diversity Institute (MDI) works internationally to encourage accurate and nuanced reporting on race, religion, ethnicity, class, disability, gender and sexual identity issues in media landscapes around the world. While our work is grounded in the principles of freedom of expression and values of diversity and inclusion, our day-to-day work focuses on cultivating practical skills to combat negative stereotypes and disinformation and improve media and information literacy.
EU Legislative Interests
We are active in regards to the European Media Freedom Act, DSA and anti-SLAPP directive
Communication Activities
We work with advocacy groups, including Global Forum for Media Development to do advocacy on media diversity, media freedom and digital policies affecting marginalised groups such as GDPR, DSA, SLAPP Directive and EMFA

Additional Information
Our involvement in lobbying is minimal because we don't have the resources to spend time on it but we do get involved with some things like the Multiannual Financial Framework and Democracy Shield and funding for media. We do visit the Parliament regularly for panels, talks and visits - such as bringing young journalists to the Audiovisual centre.
