Mission & Goals
Meat and Livestock Australia’s (MLA) mission is to collaborate with red meat industry (beef, sheepmeat, goatmeat) stakeholders to invest in research, development, and marketing initiatives that contribute to producer profitability, sustainability, and global competitiveness. As a not for profit Rural Research and Development Corporation, MLA’s remit includes delivering world-leading outcomes in climate resilience, biosecurity, and digital innovation. Under Strategic Plan 2030, MLA’s core objective is to optimize demand by expanding high-value markets and creating value across the supply chain. This includes a key initiative to defend and improve economic market access by working with industry and government to expand trade access by tackling tariffs, quotas, and technical trade disruptions. MLA further supports the industry’s path to sustainability and Australia’s net-zero ambitions.
