EU Legislative Interests

McGill University’s interest representation activities relate primarily to European Union initiatives that shape higher education cooperation, research funding, international academic mobility, and innovation capacity building. Recent EU files and policy actions targeted include: 1. Erasmus+ Higher Education Initiatives 2. EU Research Framework Programmes (e.g., Horizon Europe Framework Programme 2021-2027) 3. EU Academic Mobility and Internationalisation Measures (e.g., ERASMUS MUNDUS) 4. EU Innovation and Higher Education Capacity Building Initiatives These initiatives directly relate to McGill’s activities in: • Developing and sustaining EU partnerships in research and higher education; • Participating in EU funded research consortia and innovation initiatives; • Enabling mobility of students, researchers, and faculty; • Engaging in policy dialogues on joint degree development, research careers, global talent mobility, and innovation ecosystems.

Communication Activities

***Please note that McGill's Vice-President (Global Engagement) is planning on participating in the UNICA Days 2026 “EU-Canada Cooperation: Shared Values, Shared Futures” | 25-27 February 2026. Invited by a representative of Canada to the European Union. Supported by the Project and Policy Officer, UNICA. The Vice-President (Global Engagement) will be a panelist at the Concept note - Session 2 | Thursday, 26 February – 11:30 – 13:00, at the European Parliament. This application is to support the Vice-President's access to the European Parliament.
