Mission & Goals
Marine Ingredients Denmark (MID) is the industry association representing the Danish producers of fishmeal and fish oil – TripleNine – Denmark A/S and FF Skagen A/S. Our objective is to promote the interests of a sector that plays a key role in the sustainable and responsible use of marine resources, the circular economy, and the global food value chain. The Danish fishmeal and fish oil industry is a global leader in traceability, sustainability, and low-climate-impact production. The industry is based on short-lived, protein-rich pelagic fish species, as well as an increasing share of trimmings from the seafood processing sector – contributing significantly to resource efficiency and waste reduction. Our objectives are to promote sustainable marine resource use, circular economy practices, and high standards for traceability, quality, and environmental performance, while contributing to policy development and fostering transparency through collaboration and certification.
EU Legislative Interests
Initiatives, revisions, policies and legislative files regarding: - the Common fisheries policy and fishing opportunities, - the European Green Deal with a focus on measures affecting our industry (Nature Restoration, Fit for 55 package, Transition to a Circular Economy), - the European Commission's communication "EU Action Plan: Protecting and restoring marine ecosystems for sustainable and resilient fisheries", - the development of Environmental Footprint Methods for fishery products, - the European Commission's proposal for a legislative framework for sustainable food systems - the European Protein Strategy resolution adopted by the European Parliament, - the use of Animal by-products, - the food and feed safety and maximum levels of contaminants, - the market and the trade in fishery products.
