Mission & Goals

The main aim of the association is to raise awareness among the public about the importance of industrial heritage and to promote public access to such industrial heritage. This can be done through the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of machinery, buildings and other objects of industrial heritage importance, in-situ wherever possible. MIHA’s ultimate aim is to create a museum, not only to show the items that several individuals have donated to the Association, and those items that have been acquired through the Association’s own funds, but also to serve as a hub to create a trail to other industrial sites around Malta and Gozo. It must here be pointed out that it is not our intention to dismantle machinery that is still in its original lo

Organisation Members

Membership of the Association is open to all those individuals who have an interest in industrial heritage and who uphold the aims and objectives of the Association. Any interested person can apply for membership and when their application is approved by the Association's Executive Committee they are admitted as full members of the Association and become liable to pay a yearly membership fee, currently being 12 Euro. All members participate in the activities of the Association, such as visits to places of industrial heritage and talks on specific relevant subjects. Members can also be asked to give a helping hand in any preservation, restoration and /or rehabilitation of any industrial machinery or building which has a heritage value. All work is done on a voluntary basis without any remuneration. The membership make-up is very diverse and among our members are architects, engineers, advocates, technicians, pensioners, etc..

Additional Information

Currently the Association relies on its income from Membership fees by its members. The projects undertaken up to now have all been supported by its members all of whom work on a voluntary basis.
