LyondellBasell (LYB) is a leader in the global chemical industry, guided by our purpose of creating solutions for everyday sustainable living. We're one of the world's largest producers of polymers and a leader in polyolefin technologies. At LYB, we develop, manufacture and market innovative, high-quality products for applications ranging from sustainable transportation and food safety to clean water and quality healthcare. We're working to enable a circular and low carbon economy by partnering with other businesses, evolving our core technology and driving innovation. Whether it's through the packaging that keeps our food fresh, the fuel efficiency of the cars we drive or the products essential to the healthcare we receive, we are contributing solutions for a better tomorrow. In 2025 LyondellBasell had approximately 20.000 employees around the world, of which over 8.700 in Europe.

EU Legislative Interests

As a large, leading actor in an energy-intensive, industrial sector, and producing advanced materials such as plastics, LyondellBasell follows any EU initiatives and developments that could impact business activities, in particular those related to: sustainability and circular economy, energy and climate, chemicals, environment, health, competitiveness, industrial policy, trade policy, and employment. This includes inter alia initiatives and policies in the fields of the Clean Industrial Deal, the revision of Fit-for-55 legislations, the Circular Economy Act, the Bioeconomy Strategy, the Chemical Industry Package, the ETS revision etc.

Communication Activities

LyondellBasell contributed to the European Commission Transition Pathway for the Chemical Industry. LYB MoReTec-1 project was listed amongst the transition initiatives of the EU chemical industry. In March 2025, LyondellBasell organized a dedicated event on the End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Regulation, bringing together policymakers, industry representatives, and sustainability experts to discuss the revision’s potential impact on Europe’s circularity and automotive value chains.
