Mission & Goals
The LDES Council is the only organisation uniting global stakeholders under a shared mission to scale long duration energy storage in countries, regions, provinces and states. Our diverse membership brings together 60+ members from over 24 countries. The LDES Council builds the case for long duration energy storage by amplifying the collective expertise of our members and partners – transforming knowledge into action, and action into local and global impact.
EU Legislative Interests
We are unsure if we will try to influence EU legislation this year, and precisely which legislation or policies we will try to influence. Our aim is for two types of energy storage - power-to-power, and power-to-heat, to be treated fairly in energy and carbon markets. To that end, the most likely legislation we would target would be - the Energy Efficiency Directive for power-to-heat, and in particular the design of funds for industrial heat decarbonisation pursuant to that directive - the Renewable Energy Directive, electricity market design, and European grids and electrification plans, and in particular the design of electricity markets and grid regulations so that they fairly remunerate power-to-power and power-to-heat storage

We are an EU-based organisation with a global focus. We only allocate a small proportion of our resources to influencing EU policy. Much of our focus is on education and national governments. We have revised our estimate as follows: travel, events, staff resources and communications.
