Mission & Goals
LIP KS & IT SH.P.K. is a company committed to developing sustainable solutions in the agri-food sector and the management of organic waste. Within the scope of this project, the company’s primary goal is to establish a state-of-the-art rendering plant for the processing of animal by-products, transforming otherwise hazardous waste into valuable secondary products for the feed, fertilizer, and industrial sectors. Through this initiative, the company aims to: Reduce the environmental impact of animal waste through controlled and efficient processing. Improve food safety and public health standards in the agricultural sector. Create new economic value chains and sustainable employment opportunities in waste management and recycling. Promote regional cooperation for cross-border processing of organic waste, in partnership with companies from Albania and beyond. EU Legislative Interests
Main EU legislative proposals or policies targeted: The project directly contributes to the objectives and implementation of several key EU legislative frameworks and policies, particularly in the areas of waste management, environmental protection, and the circular economy: Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009 and Commission Regulation (EU) No 142/2011 – These set health rules regarding animal by-products not intended for human consumption, ensuring that such materials are collected, transported, processed, and disposed of safely. The rendering plant fully aligns with these regulations. EU Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC) – Promotes waste prevention, recycling, and recovery. The project supports this by converting animal waste into usable by-products, reducing landfill use and environmental pollution. EU Circular Economy Action Plan – The project reflects the principles of this plan by turning biological waste into valuable resources, encouraging resource efficiency, and closing the loop of product lifecycles. EU Green Deal & Farm to Fork Strategy – Supports the transition toward sustainable food systems, waste reduction, and improved environmental outcomes, particularly in the agri-food sector. Directive 2010/75/EU on Industrial Emissions (IED) – The project will implement best available techniques (BAT) to reduce emissions and environmental impact, in line with EU standards for waste processing facilities. By aligning with these legislative frameworks, the project ensures environmental compliance, public health protection, and contributes to Kosovo's alignment with EU environmental acquis.
Communication Activities
To support the visibility and public awareness of the project’s alignment with EU environmental and waste management policies, LIP KS & IT SH.P.K. will carry out a range of targeted communication and dissemination activities, including: Public Awareness Campaigns – Informational campaigns will be launched to raise awareness among farmers, meat processing companies, and the general public about the importance of safe animal by-product processing in line with EU regulations (e.g. Regulation 1069/2009 and the EU Circular Economy Action Plan). Workshops and Stakeholder Events – The company will organize workshops and stakeholder forums bringing together local authorities, veterinary and environmental agencies, academia, and regional partners to discuss best practices in animal waste management and EU compliance. Educational Materials and Publications – Brochures, factsheets, and infographics will be developed and distributed to explain EU standards in waste processing, the benefits of rendering technology, and the project's contribution to the Green Deal and Farm to Fork Strategy. Media Outreach – Press releases, radio interviews, and local TV segments will highlight the project’s goals, EU policy relevance, and environmental benefits. Online Presence – A dedicated section on the company’s website and social media platforms will be used to regularly update stakeholders on project implementation, environmental impact, and policy relevance. Cross-border Knowledge Exchange – Joint events and publications with the Albanian partner will be used to promote regional cooperation and exchange of experience in meeting EU environmental standards. These activities aim to foster transparency, stakeholder engagement, and stronger understanding of the EU policy context surrounding the project.
