Mission & Goals

Lawmakers must balance enforcement ambitions with a robust Safety Net for EU Representatives (as defined in the AI Act, TCO, Data Act, DSA, GDPR, GPSR, NIS2, and e-Evidence). Imposing outsized fines and potential loss of liberty on intermediaries for being "addressable by Supervisory Authorities" in lieu of non-EU customers creates a prohibitive chill factor. The EC should protect the intermediary marketplace through Codes of Conduct and direct mediation with SAs for faults not attributable to the representative. We advocate for legal certainty and operational safeguards against "joint and several" liability where, despite fulfilling our mandated "blueprint," a client remains non-compliant. The success of the EU’s digital sovereignty depends on the availability of skilled, protected intermediaries who provide the essential "human touch." We must not decimate the EU Representative market in a misguided attempt to reach the "unreachable" via other known means.

EU Legislative Interests

AI Act and Digital Omnibus (Procedures: 2025/0333(COD) and 2025/0334(COD)). Any new laws requiring a Representative by named by a non-EU market participant.

Communication Activities

This is my first foray into the EU policy work. I am simply trying to ring the alarm bell to wake up our lawmakers to the unintended consequences of recent 'easy win' for regulatory enforcement but hard consequences on its own residents who serve as representatives to meet EU legal mandates (as I mentioned, this is "representatives" in the digital laws, medical devices, general product safety, and GDPR contexts. I am going to contact my Irish MP; the European Commission; European Parliament (IMCO Committee) once I have my transparency register number.
