Mission & Goals

Life Restart is a non-profit initiative focused on the experiential reconnection of individuals with natural environments, local communities and human relationships. It designs structured field-based programmes where activities function as tools within a broader educational process. Its mission is to contribute to public health, social cohesion and community safety, while addressing challenges such as overtourism through small-scale, sustainable and community-based models. The initiative supports the revitalisation of remote and less-developed areas and strengthens local economies. It also integrates research and data collection to generate insights on human behaviour and well-being, contributing to policy development and a more resilient and competitive Europe. It promotes environmental awareness, responsible behaviour and community participation, supporting long-term sustainable development and nature-based education across European regions.

EU Legislative Interests

Life Restart contributes to EU policy frameworks and initiatives including the European Green Deal, the EU Strategy for Sustainable and Smart Tourism, and the EU Long-Term Vision for Rural Areas. It is aligned with the EU4Health Programme, particularly in relation to preventive health, mental well-being and community resilience. The organisation also supports the objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme, especially in the fields of non-formal education, nature-based learning, and youth and family engagement. Life Restart further relates to policies addressing overtourism and territorial imbalances, as well as initiatives promoting sustainable regional development and the revitalisation of rural and less-developed areas across Europe. It recognises that mental balance, awareness and personal responsibility are directly linked to community safety and social stability, integrating this perspective into its field-based activities and programme design. Through its activities, the organisation contributes to evidence-based approaches supporting policy development at the European level, particularly in areas connecting human well-being, environmental interaction, community safety and local economic sustainability. Life Restart also aligns with the New European Bauhaus initiative, promoting the integration of sustainability, human experience and local environments through community-based and place-sensitive actions. It relates to the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change by supporting the resilience of local communities through experiential and nature-based approaches. The organisation further reflects the principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights, particularly in relation to inclusion, equal access and social cohesion.

Communication Activities

In 2023, a member of the Life Restart team participated in a working group in Brussels focused on strengthening Europe’s competitiveness as a destination. This experience contributed to shaping the conceptual and strategic direction of Life Restart, particularly in relation to sustainable regional development, alternative tourism models, and balanced territorial growth. The organisation is interested in further engagement with EU-supported platforms and forums related to public health, education, sustainable tourism, and regional development.
