Mission & Goals
The Lithuanian Association of Agrochemical Products and Fertilizer Industry and Trade is a non-profit organization representing fertilizer manufacturers, distributors, importers and scientific institutions related to the agrochemical and fertilizer sector in Lithuania. The association aims to represent, promote and safeguard the interests of the Lithuanian fertilizer and agrochemical industry and trade. Its activities include contributing to discussions on international trade and regulatory policies affecting the sector, promoting favourable business conditions and reducing administrative burdens for companies, and supporting fair competition and sustainable agricultural practices. The association provides proposals and expert input to Lithuanian public authorities on legislation and policy affecting fertilizer production, distribution and use, collects and disseminates sector-related information, and cooperates with other business and industry organisations.
EU Legislative Interests
The association follows and contributes to discussions related to EU policies and legislation affecting the fertilizer and agrochemical sector, including: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) – Regulation (EU) 2023/956, introducing a carbon pricing mechanism for imported carbon-intensive goods including fertilisers to prevent carbon leakage and ensure fair competition. EU Fertilising Products Regulation – Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 governing the placing of fertilising products on the EU market and setting safety, quality and labeling requirements. Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and EU nutrient management policies affecting fertilizer use in agriculture. EU environmental and climate policies, including the EU Emissions Trading System and sustainability initiatives influencing fertilizer production and agricultural inputs. EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), establishing new requirements for packaging sustainability, recycling and waste reduction across EU markets. The association monitors these initiatives and provides input to policymakers to ensure balanced regulation that supports sustainable agriculture, competitive fertilizer production and fair trade.
Communication Activities
The association communicates and exchanges information with stakeholders regarding EU policies affecting the fertilizer and agrochemical sector. Activities may include organising or participating in industry meetings, seminars and stakeholder discussions; preparing position papers, briefings and policy comments; publishing information and analysis related to EU regulatory developments; and contributing to consultations and public discussions on EU legislation affecting fertilizer production, trade and agricultural inputs. The association may also cooperate with other industry organisations, research institutions and public authorities to raise awareness of regulatory developments such as the EU Fertilising Products Regulation, CBAM, environmental policies affecting fertilizer production and use, and the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
