Mission & Goals
Established in 2020, LG AI Research serves as the dedicated AI think tank for the LG Group. Our mission is to conduct cutting-edge AI research and address complex business and societal challenges through advanced AI technologies, advancing AI for a better life. The organization conducts research and development across diverse AI domains and collaborates with global partners, academia, and industry stakeholders. It also contributes technical insights on AI governance, safety, and responsible AI development.
EU Legislative Interests
EU Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act), Digital Services Act(DSA), and policy initiatives related to artificial intelligence, digital governance, and technology innovation.
Communication Activities
LG AI Research participates in policy discussions and expert exchanges related to digital and AI policies. Activities include participation in international conferences, expert discussions addressing development in AI governance and regulatory frameworks. LG AI Research also engages in dialogue with policymakers and stakeholders to share technical perspectives on AI.

LG AI Research is a member of Korea AI·Software Industry Association (KOSA, https://www.sw.or.kr/site/sw/main.do) and engages with the UNESCO Business Council as part of international dialogue platforms. These engagements provide opportunities for dialogue and cooperation with industry, academia, and international stakeholders on matters related to artificial intelligence.
Organisation Members
LG AI Research was established in December 2020 as an entity under the LG Management Development Institute, which is owned by LG Corp, the holding company of the LG Group. The LG Management Development Institute serves as a comprehensive group-wide organization comprising LG Global Strategy Center(LG GSC), LG Business Research, LG Academy (talent development), and LG AI Research.
