Mission & Goals
The Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) examines media change and the related structural shifts in public communication. It combines basic research and research on knowledge transfer from cross-media, interdisciplinary and independent scholarly perspectives. Thus, the institute is a valued provider of problem-specific knowledge for politics, commerce and civil society.
EU Legislative Interests
Relevant acts and policies in the field of media, information and communication, e.g. inter alia - audiovisual policies - e-commerce policies - digital platform policies - telecommunications policies - privacy policies - internet governance and - digital children’s rights. Specific legislative acts in focus of our activities are, inter alia: - Audiovisual Services Directive - Digital Services Act - Digital Markets Act - Media Freedom Act - Electronic Communications Codex - AI Act - Data Act.
Communication Activities
Expected communication activities are, inter alia, - participation in consultations and hearings - participation in expert conferences and workshops - publication of consulations, commentaries, working papers, policy papers, blog posts - interviews for media outlets - conducting own expert workshops, lectures and transfer-oriented events.
