Mission & Goals

LJAC is an NGO whose main mission is to give young people the opportunity to develop themselves personally and professionally. Our goal is to solve the most painful problems of society, promote equality, break stereotypes and fight youth unemployment by organizing various development initiatives. Goals: - Empower socially excluded groups - Contribute to the integration of vulnerable groups in the society - Collaborate with other local initiatives that support communities and support their activity - Train community and youth leaders - Build long term and sustainable changes - Promote alternative and creative solutions - Promote art and culture - Promote diversity & multiculturalism Methods: - Participatory and creative methodologies - Using of arts as a tool to work with communities - Production of (community) arts - Development of skills and empowering programs - Campaigning for human rights - Monitoring, evaluating and learning projects

EU Legislative Interests

- Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030 and the proposal for a European Disability Card to ensure equal access and rights for individuals with disabilities, including those with Down syndrome. - Regulation on a framework for Artificial Intelligence (The AI Act), with a focus on ensuring ethical use, transparency, and non-discrimination in AI systems. - Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027), specifically actions related to fostering high-quality digital education, combating disinformation, and promoting digital and media literacy. - The European Green Deal and related initiatives under the European Year of Skills, with a focus on policies that promote skills for the green transition and empower young people for green careers. - The European Skills Agenda for sustainable competitiveness, social fairness and resilience, with particular attention to initiatives supporting Vocational Education and Training (VET) learners and modernising VET systems.

Communication Activities

- Policy Discussions and Seminars. We organize and participate in national and European-level discussions, workshops, and seminars with policymakers, stakeholders, and our European partners to analyze the impact of these policies on our target groups (e.g., persons with disabilities, VET learners, youth). - Stakeholder Engagement. We utilize our extensive network of contacts to engage directly with officials from the EU institutions. This includes sending open letters, position papers, and invitations to cooperate on the implementation of the AI Act, the Disability Strategy, and the Digital Education Action Plan. - Agenda Setting and Awareness Campaigns. We conduct opinion polls and run targeted campaigns on social and traditional media to raise awareness about the importance of media literacy, skills for green jobs, and the rights of persons with disabilities in the digital age. - Training and Capacity Building. We develop and deliver training programs for our target groups, such as VET learners and young people, to equip them with the green and digital skills promoted by the European Skills Agenda and the European Green Deal.

LJAC is registered in the Erasmus+ database of organizations with an organizational ID: E10200961 and PIC: 935731550. LJAC has been active since 2014 and implements initiatives co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union in VET, ADU and YOUth sectors.

Additional Information

Latvijas jauniešu attīstības centrs is a partner of Erasmus+ projects, and the EU grants received were received from Latvian State Education Development Agency (VALSTS IZGLITIBAS ATTISTIBAS AGENTURA) as well as from project coordinator organizations (main beneficiaries). In addition, Latvijas jauniešu attīstības centrs received funds to reimburse travel expenses for Latvian participants in projects in which they participated (on behalf of our organization).
