Mission & Goals
The Latvian Rural Forum (LRF) was established on the 22nd of December 2004 and registered in the Register of Associations and Foundations on the 27th of April 2005. LRF unites 87 member organizations, including 32 Local Action Groups, covering the entire territory of Latvia. The association has been working for 20 years with rural development and local development issues in Latvia, strengthening civil society and participation practices in regions, as well as promoting support tools for business in rural areas and bringing new knowledge and methods to the civic society and rural communities. One of the strong principles of LRF work has been to decrease the gap between European and national policy makers and local stakeholders by working with all.
EU Legislative Interests
Regional and rural development policies, such as Rural Pact, LEADER/CLLD, Common Agricultural Policy, Green Deal and other. Cohesion policy. Civic society policies, transparency and democracy. Participation in the conferences, meetings, focus groups, working groups on issues raised by the DG AGRI, DG REGIO etc.
Communication Activities
Organizing online and face-to-face discussions, seminars, conferences, Latvian Rural Community Parliament and Rural Village annual gathering, publishing information in social media, website and newsletter in order to communicate about the EU policies to rural stakeholders and general public
