Latitude Five do not have a mandate to represent any clients towards the EU institutions; our mandate is to inform clients on trends and updates affecting the EU’s critical raw materials (CRM) agenda and how this can affect them and their operations (e.g. market access, competitive positioning of European mining and minerals investment and/or operations, EU positions in and/or relating to client’s countries of investment and/or operations). Our services are advisory. Should clients decide to engage EU institutions on this basis, we may help to identify contacts for discussions and set up meetings, but clients engage on their own terms – generally to inform EU institution staff on their operations and markets. Latitude Five conducted one assignment for the Commission focusing on the CRM Strategic Partnership with Argentina, from July to December 2023. This involved assessing strategic positioning and engagement opportunities with public and private sector actors in Argentina, mapping relevant value chains and market trends and contextualising the Strategic Partnership in Argentina’s own extractives landscape.
