Mission & Goals

La Isla Network is a leading global occupational health research organization and consultancy dedicated to protecting workers in a warming world. We partner with companies, institutions, and organizations across Europe and internationally to generate, support, and implement evidence-driven solutions that address heat exposure and other occupationally acquired injuries and illnesses. Working closely with European employers, industry groups, and worker representatives, we tailor our approach to the specific regulatory, cultural, and operational contexts of each setting. This enables the adoption of appropriate worker protections that are both aligned with European standards and responsive to site-specific realities. We collaborate with decision-makers at all levels to improve working conditions, strengthen worker health, and develop customized policies and procedures that ensure occupational protections are effectively and consistently implemented.

EU Legislative Interests

We focus on workers rights within the responsibilities of the European commission department Jobs and Social Right EU Directive's 89/654/EEC of 30 November 1989 concerning the minimum safety and health requirements for the workplace

Communication Activities

On September 19th 2024, there was a European conference on this topic in Brussels, featuring representatives from the European Commission, scientific community, climate organizations, and more. Jason Glaser, the Director of La Isla Network, was one of the speakers at this European event and presented the story and solution there.
