Mission & Goals
Our purpose: Nourishing by nature. We have a long history and exist in a cooperative tradition. A cooperative cannot thrive with a focus on the short term. That is why we are future focused. We do that for our consumers, our customers, our farmers. And for the world. With our purpose we strive for: 1. Better nutrition for the world: We contribute to food safety and food security for millions of people all over the world by providing them with access to dairy. 2. A good living for our farmers: We pay an exemplary milk price and this way enable member dairy farmers to maintain healthy farming operations. In addition, we support local dairy farms in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. 3. Now and for generations to come: We assume responsibility for maintaining the natural living environment. This is the basis and the future of the company and the world at large. Furthermore, we encourage member dairy farmers to operate their farm in balance with nature and climate.
EU Legislative Interests
Any legislative proposal that affects dairy farming, dairy processing, consumer products and food for specific groups. Recently amongst others we have been focused on the European Green Deal, the Farm to Fork Strategy and the Circular Economy Action Plan, the Sustainable Food Systems Framework, the Product Environmental Footprint, the Green Claims proposal, the Carbon Removals Proposal, Origin Labelling, the Waste food Directive, the Single Use Plastics Directive, Food Safety and Hygiene Legislation, New Breeding and Genomics Techniques, Organic Regulation, Additives Regulation, Date Marking, BREF and IED, ESR and the EU Methane Strategy.
Communication Activities
FrieslandCampina is an active member of the European Dairy Association and Specialised Nutrition Europe (SNE) delivers input to EU policies highlighted there. In addition FrieslandCampina individually may gives input to EU consultations directly or via the Dutch Dairy Association or other associations. Experts in our companies are also participating in several Task Forces and Expert Groups. FrieslandCampina may be involved in events as a speaker organized in the Brussels Sphere on specific topics.
