Mission & Goals

The Women's Coalition, established in 2002, is a united network of diverse organizations across Türkiye, joining forces for a shared purpose. Our coalition encompasses groups with unique missions, perspectives, and expertise, creating a rich resource focused on transforming local politics. For us, participation in local governance means more than just voting or holding office. We work to expand existing channels and create new pathways to ensure municipal services are gender-equal and free from discrimination, treating women and LGBTI+ individuals as full, equal citizens. Recognizing that local administrations are often more accessible and responsive than central ones, we engage them as key partners in our efforts. We recognize that local issues connect to broader dynamics, with national and international politics deeply intertwined. Just as patriarchy drives domestic violence, systemic forces shape women’s increasing need for municipal support, reflecting wider economic policies.
