Mission & Goals

As a non-EU representative member from a key art market country, I will seek to address the impact of EU Legislation and Regulation on International trade and its impact on both EU and non-EU citizens, be they members of the trade, private collectors or the wider public. I will seek to discuss what drives legislation and regulatory change in the art market and whether this is based on accurate data.

EU Legislative Interests

I have been notified the tasks of the Commission expert sub-group on "Dialogue with the Art Market" will be the following: (a) to exchange information between the Commission and stakeholders operating in the area of trading in cultural goods on questions relating to the development of international, European and national legislations, programmes and policies related to the protection and trade of cultural goods in the single market; (b) whenever appropriate, to provide the Commission with experts reports, opinions and analysis regarding to EU legislation, EU funding programmes and policies related to the protection and trade of cultural goods in the single market; (c) to bring about an exchange of experience and good practices implemented by the art market participants and other relevant bodies related to the protection and trade of cultural goods in the single market. From the perspective of the global art market, and being based outside the EU, I would expect the sub-group to address the impact of the Regulation (EU) 2019/880 on the introduction and the import of cultural goods.
