Mission & Goals
JBF Global Europe operates a major polyester manufacturing site in Belgium, representing approximately 15% of total European polyester capacity. The site has the capability to produce up to 120,000 tonnes per year of rPET containing 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, positioning JBF as a key industrial player in the European polyester value chain. The plant is co-located with INEOS’ PTA facilities, which accounts for around 50% of EU PTA capacity, enabling an exceptionally integrated aromatics and polyester value chain with high security of supply. Leveraging leading production technologies, JBF produces bottle-grade PET with among the lowest product carbon footprints in the European Union. Through its industrial scale, technological leadership and commitment to circular production, JBF believes it can make a concrete and practical contribution to strengthening the EU’s circular economy and the resilience of critical chemical value chains.
EU Legislative Interests
JBF Global Europe’s activities at EU level are focused on monitoring, understanding and constructively contributing to EU legislative and policy initiatives that affect the European chemicals, plastics and circular economy value chains. In particular, JBF follows EU policies related to the resilience and competitiveness of the European chemical industry, including initiatives under the European Green Deal, the EU Industrial Strategy, and measures aimed at safeguarding critical industrial value chains and production capacities within the EU. JBF is actively engaged in monitoring legislation and policy discussions concerning circular economy objectives, including the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), recycled content requirements, chemical recycling and mechanical recycling frameworks, and sustainability-related product standards affecting PET and polyester materials. The company also follows EU initiatives related to climate and energy policy, such as the EU Climate Law, Fit for 55 package, carbon footprint methodologies, Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) frameworks, insofar as they apply to chemical manufacturing and polymer production. In addition, JBF monitors EU trade and industrial defence instruments, including anti-dumping and safeguard measures, where such instruments are relevant to maintaining a level playing field and ensuring fair competition for European chemical producers. JBF’s interactions with EU institutions are aimed at providing factual, technical and operational input based on its industrial experience as a European polyester producer, with the objective of supporting well-informed, workable and proportionate policy outcomes. The company does not seek preferential treatment, but contributes to policy discussions where its expertise can be of practical relevance to the resilience, sustainability and competitiveness of the EU chemicals and circular economy value chains.
Communication Activities
JBF Global Europe’s communication activities related to EU policies are limited, proportionate and primarily technical in nature. They focus on the exchange of factual information and industry expertise relevant to EU policy discussions affecting the chemicals, plastics and circular economy sectors. Such activities include participation in meetings, workshops, conferences and consultations organised by EU institutions, national authorities or recognised industry platforms, where JBF may share operational experience and technical insights as a European polyester producer. JBF also engages, where appropriate, through membership or participation in European industry associations and value-chain initiatives, contributing to joint position papers, responses to public consultations or technical input documents addressing EU legislation related to circular economy, sustainability, climate policy and industrial competitiveness. In addition, JBF may communicate with EU institutions in the context of trade and industrial defence proceedings, including anti-dumping investigations, where relevant, in accordance with applicable EU procedures and transparency requirements. JBF does not conduct public advocacy campaigns at EU level. Its communication activities are focused on constructive dialogue, provision of accurate information and support for evidence-based policymaking. All such activities are carried out in compliance with the EU Transparency Register Code of Conduct.
