Mission & Goals
To serve its clients. Provide information and give advice to the clients. Attend meetings on behalf of the clients, concerning drafted and in force EU policies and legislation; implementation of legislation, control and enforcement in particular with regard to EU fisheries and environmental issues as well as animal welfare (fish). Special in depth knowledge about recreational fisheries in Europe and globally. Contracted by the European Anglers Alliance and the European Fishing Tackle & Trade Association since September 2001.
EU Legislative Interests
The EU's Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), policies, implementation, evaluation; the discards ban; the fisheries Control Regulation; Technical Measures Regulation; various fisheries management plans, which include recreational angling provisions (eels, sea bass, salmon, cod, tuna..); management of fish predators (cormorants); Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD); Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP), Water Framework Directive (WFD); EU Invasive Alien Species Regulation; Single Use Plastics Directive; REACH; Birds- and Habitats Directives / Natura 2000; Renewable Energy Directive (in particular hydropower's impact on the aquatic environment), socio-economic value of recreational fishing; BLUE GROWTH strategy, EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030, the Nature Restoration Regulation.
Communication Activities
Involved with the "Forum on Recreational Fisheries and Aquatic Environment", which secretariat is provided by the European Anglers Alliance (EAA) and the European Fishing Tackle & Trade Association (EFTTA).
