Mission & Goals

ITWorks' goals are the promotion and standardization of good software development and project management practices on a national and international level.

EU Legislative Interests

Digital Single Market Strategy 1. Harmonization of rules: Influencing efforts to standardize laws across member states, rather than dealing with a patchwork of national regulations. 2. Cross-border access: Advocating for policies that facilitate easier access for consumers and businesses to digital goods and services across the EU (e.g., removing geo-blocking). 3. E-commerce rules: Shaping revisions to e-commerce rules to ensure they are conducive to online business growth. 4. Standard-setting: Ensuring that technical standards are developed through industry-led processes rather than top-down Commission dictates, to avoid stifling innovation. 5. Public procurement: Influencing "Buy European" initiatives to ensure they don't unfairly disadvantage non-EU companies or limit access to the best technology. Artificial Intelligence Act 6. Risk classification: Influencing how AI systems are categorized (e.g., high-risk, limited risk) to ensure a balanced approach that promotes innovation while mitigating risks. 7. Compliance requirements: Shaping the obligations for high-risk AI systems, including data governance, documentation, human oversight, transparency, and conformity assessments. 8. General-purpose AI (GPAI) obligations: For developers of foundational AI models, influencing the additional requirements related to systemic risks. 9. Harmonized standards: Advocating for clear and practical standards to demonstrate compliance with the AI Act. Digital Skills and Workforce Policies 1. Education and training: Influencing funding and initiatives for digital skills development, STEM education, and lifelong learning. 2. Talent attraction: Advocating for policies that facilitate the attraction and retention of international tech talent.
