EU Legislative Interests

reports on combating Antisemitism, racism and discrimination monitoring activities of the AFET Committee especially related to Israel Reports on the situation of fundamental rights in the EU Here are some examples of main EU legislative proposals or policies that IAF targets to foster peace in the Middle East, specifically between Jews and Palestinians, to stand up against anti-Semitism and discrimination, and speak up for the rights of persecuted Christians: EU-Middle East Peace Process: The EU has been actively engaged in the Middle East peace process for many years, working to promote a peaceful and just solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. IAF targets this policy to push for greater EU involvement in the peace process and to promote dialogue and cooperation between Jews and Palestinians. EU Strategy on Combating Anti-Semitism and Fostering Jewish Life: This policy initiative aims to promote the protection of Jewish communities across Europe and globally and to combat all forms of anti-Semitism. The IAF targets this policy to ensure that the EU is doing enough to address anti-Semitism and to push for stronger measures to combat discrimination and hate speech. European Convention on Human Rights: The European Convention on Human Rights is a legally binding treaty that sets out fundamental rights and freedoms for all individuals in Europe, including the right to equality and non-discrimination. The IAF targets this policy to ensure that these fundamental rights are respected and upheld in the Middle East and to push for greater accountability for human rights abuses. EU Human Rights Policy: The EU has a broad human rights policy that includes provisions for the protection of freedom of religion and belief. The IAF targets this policy to ensure that the EU is doing enough to protect the rights of persecuted Christians in the Middle East. EU Guidelines on the Promotion and Protection of Freedom of Religion or Belief: These guidelines provide a framework for the EU's work on freedom of religion and belief, including actions to support and protect religious minorities. The IAF targets these guidelines to push for greater EU action to protect persecuted Christians in the Middle East. EU Emergency Trust Fund for Africa: This fund supports projects in Africa and the Middle East aimed at addressing the root causes of irregular migration and forced displacement. The IAF targets this policy to ensure that funds are being directed to support persecuted Christians in the Middle East who have been forced to flee their homes due to violence and persecution. EU External Action Service (EEAS): The EEAS is the EU's diplomatic service, responsible for implementing the EU's foreign and security policy. The IAF targets EEAS policy to push for greater EU engagement with governments and other actors in the Middle East to promote religious freedom and to protect persecuted Christians.
