Mission & Goals

IGN is the only global organization with a sole focus on iodine nutrition. IGN’s mission is to be the voice for iodine nutrition around the world, with a vision of sustained salt iodization leading to a world free of brain damage due to iodine deficiency. We work with governments, industry and other partners to make iodine programs as effective, efficient, equitable and sustainable as they can be. Goal 1: To help establish long-term mechanisms to preserve and strengthen partnerships that will monitor progress with IDD efforts, ensure support for new challenges, and address the needs of countries and populations within countries that fall behind Goal 2: To strengthen national capacity for advocacy, and for inclusion of iodine within the broader nutrition agenda, including fortification
