Communication Activities
Internews Ukraine, implementing the project “Media Support Services for the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine,” helps to create high-quality and timely communication about the EU for Ukraine and Ukraine for the EU. The project comprises a comprehensive set of communication activities aimed at increasing awareness, understanding, and support for the EU and EU-Ukraine relations among Ukrainian audiences. The activities span multiple media channels, public events, and social media platforms. A core component is working with regional and local Ukrainian media outlets to ensure widespread dissemination of information and narratives related to the EU, EU-Ukraine cooperation, and the EU's role in Ukraine. This includes supporting media in producing featured stories and news content and organising training sessions for regional media to enhance journalists' knowledge about the EU, its history, structure, and policies, the enlargement package, and Ukraine's prospects for joining the EU. The project also involves delivering dedicated EU news and information services for Ukrainian journalists, the EU Delegation, and the wider public. This includes producing weekly newsletters (EU Informers), ad hoc news reports, and translating EU-related materials. Creating a comprehensive guide for journalists once a year allows media representatives to easily navigate complex information about the European Union, find the necessary contacts and more. Organising study visits for Ukrainian journalists to Brussels further contributes to informing and engaging media stakeholders. Monitoring and analysis of EU coverage in Ukrainian media, including social media, is another key pillar. This provides valuable insights to the EU Delegation on the media landscape and public discourse around EU-related topics. Analytical reports and ad hoc monitoring help identify trends, issues, and potential disinformation that can be addressed. Building partnerships with major media events and fora in Ukraine creates opportunities to directly promote EU knowledge, values, and priorities among wide-reaching public audiences. In this fruitful cooperation, we design engaging activities and ensure strong EU visibility on these high-profile platforms. Additionally, the project includes dedicated social media support, producing audiovisual content and boosting its dissemination to enhance the EU Delegation's online presence and engagement with Ukrainian citizens. Overall, the project's multifaceted communication activities aim to foster greater public understanding, appreciation, and support for Ukraine's European integration process. By working across various media channels and formats, the project seeks to strengthen the EU's strategic communication and reach diverse target groups throughout the country.
