Mission & Goals
The International Windship Association (IWSA) facilitates and promotes wind propulsion solutions for commercial shipping worldwide and brings together all parties in the development of a wind ship sector to shape industry and government attitudes and policies. IWSA is a member-driven, not-for-profit association made up of wind propulsion technology suppliers and ship development projects, shipping companies, designers, naval architects, engineers, academics, classification societies, NGO’s and seafarers
EU Legislative Interests
All Transport and Renewable Energy and specifically Maritime related proposals and policies. Specific policies include: Fuel EU Maritime, EU ETS, REDII
Communication Activities
We are working with DG MOVE - ESSF on documentation regarding wind propulsion and how that relates to these policies. This includes the IMO submissions on wind propulsion and ongoing assessments of these policy activities through the wind propulsion lens.

IWSA has full consultative status at the International Maritime Association. IWSA has reciprocal associate membership with the World Ocean Council, Green Marine and NAMEPA IWSA is a member of the IRENA Coalition for Action IWSA has a reciprocal working agreement with The Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) in Singapore IWSA has a reciprocal working agreement with The Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping in Denmark IWSA is part of the European Space Agency Maritime Sustainability Task Force IWSA has a reciprocal non-executive director with the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA)
