Communication Activities

IUMI received support from the EU member States for a submission to the 12th sessions of the International Maritime Organization's Sub-Committee on Ship Systems and Equipment (SSE). The document promotes improved safety regulations for low pressure fuel pipes which have caused numerous engine room fires. The submission will be discussed at the SSE 12 Committee meeting in March 2026. If appropriate, EU representatives may be invited as guest speakers at IUMI events or webinars. From March 2026 onwards, a third colleague will start working for IUMI on our policy and advocacy work. This person is the only one who is working on policy issues 100% of their time.
