Its main areas of activity include the following: trade unions as development actors; SDGs; trade union and human rights; economy, society and the workplace; equality and non-discrimination; and international solidarity.
EU Legislative Interests
The main EU initiatives, policies and legislative files currently followed by the ITUC include: trade, employment, social policy, environment, competition, external affairs, development, budget, gender, migration.
Communication Activities
Concerning policy implementation, the ITUC’s key policy areas were defined at the last ITUC World Congress in 2022; the related pillars for actions are detailed in the annual ITUC Frontline Campaigns and Pillars for Action (https://www.ituc-csi.org/IMG/pdf/5co-final-statement-en.pdf). Public relations and communication activities are directly linked to these pillars. Concerning publications produced by the ITUC, they can be found here: https://www.ituc-csi.org/documents

Member Of
The ITUC itself is a confederation of trade unions from all over the world (see list of affiliates in the box below). The ITUC is also participating in several networks related to its work. For example, it is part of and currently co-chairing the Major Groups and Other Stakeholders Coordination Mechanism, which coordinates the inputs from Civil Society Organizations into the SDG process at the global level. The ITUC has also been working with the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) in order to promote the SDGs. From the point of view of promoting the effectiveness of development cooperation to achieve the SDGs, the ITUC is also part of the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE).
