Mission & Goals
The Association is a non-profit making association. Its aim is to promote the introduction, growth and development of safe, calorie-free or low-calorie sweeteners, as well as their use, individually or in combination, in food, beverages and table-top sweeteners. The Association constitutes an efficient means of communication between industry, the scientific community, regulatory, governmental and health-related authorities, as well as consumer associations of the European Union, the World Health Organisation, the United Nations and other international organisations, both directly with them and through the intermediary of local associations at national level. The association engages in communications activities directly with consumers. The Association implements action programmes and provides information to legislative, governmental and health-related authorities, on request during consultations. In addition information is regularly provided to health care professionals and media.
EU Legislative Interests
- Implementation measures linked to Regulation 1333/2008 on food additives (and related amendments) and any relevant initiatives foreseen in the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability Towards a Toxic-Free Environment. - Implementation measures linked to Regulation 1169/2011 on food information to the consumer and related amendments including the Regulation 2019/1381 on the transparency and sustainability of the EU risk assessment in the food chain and initiatives foreseen in the Farm to Fork strategy. - Implementation measures linked to Regulation (EC) 1924/2006 on Nutrition &Health Claims - Implementation measures in the area of public health and nutrition under Article168 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. - Implementation of the Vision for Agriculture and Food, including the yearly Food Dialogue. - Implementation measures related to the EU cardiovascular health plan.
