Mission & Goals
The IRU Permanent Delegation to the EU was established in 1973 as an independent body, with its own statutes, in Brussels, Belgium. It's mission is to support IRU EU Member Associations in monitoring and ensuring informed legislation on all issues dealt with by the EU institutions that affect road transport.
EU Legislative Interests
• Proposal for a Regulation on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure; • Revision of the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) Directive; • Revision of the Energy Taxation Directive (ETD); • CO2 standards for heavy-duty vehicles; • CountEmissions EU; • Revision of the Weights & Dimensions Directive; • Revision of the Combined Transport Directive; • Revision of the Trans-European Transport (TEN-T) Network Regulation; • EU Roadworthiness Package • Proposal for a Regulation on harmonised rules on fair access to and use of data (Data Act); • Proposal for a Directive on improving working conditions in platform work; • Revision of the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Directive; • Access to vehicle data, functions and resources; • Revision of the Driving Licence Directive; - Implementation of the Mobility Package 1 - EC Notice on regulating taxis and private hire vehicles - EC Proposal on Public Sector Obligations - Passenger rights for bus and coach Communication activities (events, campaigns, publications, etc.) related to the EU policies above
