Mission & Goals
The CIT implements rail transport law at the level of the railway undertakings. To this end, it prepares and updates documents and tools for international rail transport, and standardises contractual relationships between customers, carriers and infrastructure managers. The CIT represents the interests of rail carriers via-à-vis legislators and authorities and provides proper and timely information, training and legal advice for its members.
EU Legislative Interests
The CIT deals exclusively with questions related to implementation of the EU legislation for or related to the railway sector on the industry level. Whenever necessary, the CIT provides legal assessment of the proposals to the respective partner organisations dealing with lobbying and submits statements to the legislative proposals of the EU. Currently, the CIT closely follows the following EU (legislative) initiatives and strategies: Digitalisation in the Transport Sector, Railway Packages, Rail Passenger Rights Regulation, proposal on Accessibility Directive. GDPR.
