Mission & Goals
The International Panel on the Information Environment (IPIE) is an independent and global science organization providing scientific knowledge about the health of the world's information environment. Based in Switzerland, the IPIE offers policymakers, industry, and civil society actionable scientific assessments about threats to the information environment, including AI bias, algorithmic manipulation, and disinformation. The IPIE is the only scientific body systematically organizing, evaluating, and elevating research with the broad aim of improving the global information environment. Hundreds of researchers worldwide contribute to the IPIE's reports.

Communication Activities
The IPIE publishes scientific reports related to technology and information systems and the global information environment, including as it relates to the aforementioned EU legislative proposals and policies. The IPIE also hosts regular public events related to these scientific scientific findings.

Additional Information
The IPIE was legally established in the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland in November 2023 (see UID-Number: CHE-225.455.168). The IPIE completed its first audit in 2025. This first audit covered the IPIE's financial activities between the date of its legal registration (15 November 2023) to 31 December 2024. The information included in this registry captures that period. Additionally, the IPIE conducts its bookkeeping in CHF and the audit examined the IPIE's accounts in CHF. The IPIE also received funding in other currencies in FY2024, such as USD. For the purposes of this registry, original currencies have been converted to Euros with the exchange rate dated 31 December 2024.
