Mission & Goals
La Strada International is a European NGO Platform against human trafficking, that works from a human rights perspective in support of trafficked persons. The platform aims to prevent human trafficking and to protect and realise trafficked persons’ rights. This is done by providing access to adequate assistance and support to victims, and via information and knowledge exchange, capacity building of NGOs and other stakeholders and cross-sectoral cooperation. Focus is on monitoring and advocacy for change to ensure accountability for the effective implementation of European Anti-Trafficking policies and regulations.
EU Legislative Interests
La Strada International advocates for the rights of trafficked persons, as well as those vulnerable for exploitation and trafficking. To ensure accountability for the effective implementation of policies and regulations, La Strada International advocates for legislation that fully recognizes and respects the rights of people and monitors implementation of policies and laws to ensure rights are realized. La Strada International is member of the EU Civil Society Platform against Trafficking in Human Beings, partner of the EU anti-trafficking Hub, member of the EU Victim Rights Platform and member of the informal EU expert group on the forced labour ban regulation. As such La Strada International in particular follows EU law, policies and strategies related to human trafficking, organised crime, victim rights, CSDDD and forced labour (forced labour ban) next to migration, women rights, prostitution and other related topics.
Communication Activities
La Strada International works on international advocacy, representation and visibility to promote the work of the Platform and for building partnerships with relevant international stakeholders. The secretariat also works on monitoring, data collection and research and coordination of international projects.La Strada International publishes a monthly newsletter with updates, news, opinions from La Strada International members and international developments in the field of human trafficking and migration. As for projects and campaigns, see https://www.lastradainternational.org/category/projects-campaigns/ In 2024 - 2025, we published statements and research reports in relation to the transposing of the EU anti-trafficking Directive, including reports on the exploitation of surrogacy, forced marriage, non-punishment, the vulnerability of Ukrainian refugees etc. We also contributed to research for the Commission for the EU anti-trafficking Hub related to trafficking for labour exploitation, data collection and stratistics, and NRMs and with others reacted with statements and publications on the forced labour ban, and the VAW Directive etc. See our website for regular communication activities including about EU decisions and policies and we publish a monthly newsletter that also reports about EU law and policies related to human trafficking and migration.
