Mission & Goals

Promoting society's understanding of the importance of freedom of speech and assembly as fundamental rights for every individual. Raising awareness and informing about concerns related to extremism and its challenges to European countries, especially with regard to threats of religious fundamentalism. Fostering constructive discussions and effective debates on solutions and perspectives for improving the situation of freedom of speech and assembly in Iran and Europe. Creating educational opportunities and teaching skills aligned with activities related to freedom of speech and assembly.

EU Legislative Interests

Our influencing activities target specific EU legislative proposals and policies related to the EU’s digital strategy and fundamental rights, including: EU initiatives addressing online disinformation, including the European Democracy Action Plan (EDAP) and the Code of Practice on Disinformation. Regulation (EU) 2024/… on the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA), focusing on safeguards for media independence and freedom of expression. EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, especially Article 11 (Freedom of Expression and Information) and Article 12 (Freedom of Assembly and Association). EU Rule of Law Mechanism and Annual Rule of Law Reports, where freedom of expression, civic space, and the right to protest are monitored. Council of Europe instruments that the EU references or aligns with, such as the European Convention on Human Rights (Articles 10 and 11), insofar as they guide EU policy and legislative development. Our work involves engaging with these policies to safeguard digital rights, protect free expression, ensure free and open access to information, oppose censorship, and defend freedom of assembly and the rights of persons belonging to minorities both within the Union and abroad.
